How to convert images on this page

  1. Read the limit note above the square. About 80 MB total. Desktop Chrome or Firefox. iPhone and large files may fail.
  2. Drop a .heic, .heif, .webp, .png, or .jpg on the square, click it and pick several, or paste one from the clipboard with Ctrl/Cmd+V. Drop again to add more. Nothing leaves the tab.
  3. Pick JPEG or PNG. For JPEG, set quality if you care. 0.90 is the default and is fine for a form, a slide, or WhatsApp.
  4. Click convert. A HEIC loads the decoder on the first run. A batch converts one after another. Raster formats use the canvas in this tab.
  5. Download each file, or the zip when you converted more than one. There is no lock and no watermark.

What this clinic does

This is the local image verb. HEIC stills go through a maintained browser build of libheif (the heic-to library). WebP, PNG, and JPEG are decoded with the browser and re-encoded to the format you picked. Close the tab and the bytes are gone.

Apple phones have saved photos as HEIC since iOS 11. Windows, Gmail, Slack, and a lot of website uploads still refuse the type. Chrome and Firefox cannot show a .heic as a regular image. That is why the older /heic-to-jpg URL still exists — same tool, HEIC as the default story. This page is the clinic: four inputs, two outputs, one file or a handful.

Paste from the clipboard

A screenshot or a copied image in the clipboard is a file too. Focus this tab and press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac). We take the first image item and add it to the list. That is the usual path for a PNG from the OS screenshot tool, or a JPEG you copied in another app. HEIC rarely lands on the clipboard; drop those.

Before you start — the honest limits

A browser is not Photos.app. Keep the drop under about 80 MB total. Use a desktop. An iPhone tab has a tight memory ceiling. A 48 MP HEIC can decode into hundreds of megabytes of raw RGBA before encoding starts. A batch of those will fail. If the tab reloads or the page goes white, the browser gave up. That is not a silent upload.

Live Photos store a short video next to the still. This tool reads the still. Bursts and multi-image HEIC containers: we convert the primary image. EXIF is not copied. The output is a new file of the pixels. Orientation is usually baked in, so the download should look upright. PNG from a transparent source keeps alpha. JPEG fills empty pixels with white.

Quality and size

JPEG is lossy. HEIC and WebP were already compressed. Quality 0.90 is visually close to a phone snapshot. Drop toward 0.75 for a lighter email. Stay at 0.92 or above if you are archiving a print. PNG is lossless and often larger. Use it when you need a crisp UI shot or a transparent background.

What this is not

This is not a desktop folder app and not iCloud. A handful of stills is fine. Hundreds belong in Preview, ImageMagick, or heif-convert on a machine you control. Once is for the photos sitting in Downloads or on the clipboard that you need in the next minute. Need to turn a shot or fit a box? That is /rotate-image. Need to cut a still? /crop-image. Need a smaller JPEG or WebP of the same still? /compress-image. Same tab, no upload. PDFs have their own clinic at /pdf.

FAQ

Does the photo leave my computer?

No. Conversion runs in this tab. The privacy page says the same thing.

Can I convert several HEICs at once?

Yes. Drop more than one, including a mix of HEIC and JPEG. Convert all, then download each file or the zip. Paste still adds one image.

Can I rotate or resize here?

No. This page changes format. Geometry is Rotate / resize — 90/180/270, flip, max edge or box — or Crop image for a free or locked aspect cut. Same kinds of still, still local.

Can I crush the file size here?

No. This page changes format. Size crush — quality slider, optional max edge, JPEG or WebP out — is Compress image.

Can I still use /heic-to-jpg?

Yes. That URL is a thin alias of this tool with HEIC as the default empty label. Same decoder, same outputs, same batch.

Do you add a watermark or ask for an email?

No. The download link is a normal file.

Is my job counted?

Each successful convert increments a number in localStorage. Nothing is posted to a server.
